your favorite software

these are my favourite
VLC because it plays just about everything and can record streams too
Viddi Radioplayer because it has lots of pre-programed stations
Screamer Radio for the same reason as Viddi, but it records too.

i can't live without Proxomitron and Opera

i don't know about worst i normally only install things i want i had norton av 2004 that was probably the worst - it wouldn't install on a fresh install, i tried about 6 times making sure it was the first thing i tried to install, i don't know why i tried so many times, probably so i could hate it more the support is just as bad - rubbish!

cant live without:

nod32
firefox (especially all teh extensions)
acronis trueimage 8

worst software:

panda (2005 just plain slow plus a BSOD)
truprevent (v1.5 was just slow but neat; 2005 has difficulty installing and gave internet problems)
system mechanic (v3 was teh best, v4 was ok, v5 gave me crashes, v6 havent tried; i gave it up)
ace mega codec pack (theyre serious when they say not to install all codecs)
nero 7 and trueimage 9 (need lots more testing, bug removal, and just "refinement")
pestpatrol (too many false positives)

 

Right now in Feb. '06 this is my list:

1) Favorite: Opera, RegRun Plat., Galleon (TiVo), VMWare, PerfectDisk

2) Can't live without: VMWare ESX & Wkstn, NOD32

3) Garbage: Rogue AntiSpy apps, weatherbug, webshots
