I sincerely hope the Wise Vector team will continue the project. I have followed them off and on and it's always an interesting thread.
I decided to give WiseVector a test with my malware collection and consider me impressed. I just could not bypass the system. I may be had 10 samples that were not detected on access and required me to execute them but I probably thrown 150 - 200 samples at it over the last 48 hours and I'm impressed.
I can't even install wisevector. I've been told I need to turn off the exploit protection in windows to do it, but no other security software ever made me do that.
I have no idea why your system needs to do that. I have install Wise Vector no problem without ever needing to change the Exploit settings. Going by a previous conversation you had in this thread. It sounds like the problem was ASLR In my setting, (Windows Security > App & Browser control > Exploit Protection > System Setting) Everything is on default. The only ASLR that is disabled/OFF is the one called “Force randomization for images (Mandatory ASLR)” “Use default (OFF)” Look if your setting is the same. If not, try to disable only that one.
This was just posted at MalwareTips. https://malwaretips.com/threads/wisevector-free-ai-driven-security.87965/page-114#post-1024728 Not an official rep, I don't think, but still...If there was a correspondence, like an email, I wish the poster had put it in print, though. Otherwise, it's still hear-say.
Well it was pretty nice while it lasted. It's been pummeled by the best of them and always turned up with a good formidable showing of results. High reviews from many test beds not in the pockets of big money. It may still be useful for awhile yet. I mean i still use ERP Radar 4.0 and to this day it still automatically snaps on and blocks things HOWEVER the user must half program that one.
Hello guys! I haven't been around for a few months. Apologies for that. Thank you all for your interest in our current situation. At present, the personal version (WiseVector StopX) has stopped updating, however, it's not the end of WiseVector. Due to the reorientation of the company's business, the retention of the personal version is still under discussion within our company. We are working on a version that serves the enterprise. I will come back to you when there is anything new with us. We are grateful for your trust and support!
Thanks for clearing things up. Frankly, in other words, it really means the end of the personal version.
Hi WiseVector, Can't you simply put a price on the free version with addition features (or even without addition features) and continue to develop it? I am certain that a lot of users will happy to buy a license. Don't let this project down.
As there will be no more updates, I disabled automatic definition and program updates. In addition I added a non valid proxy. Hopefully this will prevent WiseVector to kill my WVSX.
I don't know what it is but I know the rules I set in simplewall stop working all of sudden if WSVX firewall is on
Somehow I'm under the impression, that WiseVecor (ab)used the community with false promises. That leads me to the conclusion, that WV owes the community some reward. What could that be? A single workstation licence, for long term Wilders members. Without the management console.
The AI needs samples to train, if new data is not fed the model does not improve when drawing inferences, you can also change parameters and model type, or re-sample, like add noise to old data, it needs to be updated like any other thing does (this is a rapidly evolving field you must constatly adapt), maybe not that often as signatures but still, hackers also might want to use AI and new unseen methods, so this AV will not be useful for too long if abandoned, the AI is not super smart (yet), tbh despite the hype AI sucks alot at predicting and is a bit random (don't look just at model's metrics), even if fine tuned for specific task it may throw new results at each session (even during training) I would never rely on it totally, its like asking a stranger to look after the children, AI is a blackbox nobody completely knows what it has learned,a layered approach seams best atm
Like @lucd wrote, there are new methods around and ahead, to trick AVs. For example, adding noise to existing malware is as simple, as effective. I will keep WVSX for a while, along Microsoft Defender, and see how it goes. But frankly, I haven't been targeted for a least two decades.
It's nailed a lot of malware i threw at it but is been awhile now. I even seen some useful results with network alerts it stopped dead.
While you can have good results with WVSX I don't recommend relying on abandoned security app for too long. There're no other apps that need to be regularly maintained/updated other than security ones and I'm not talking about AV definitions etc.
I`ve upped the security levels on the HIPS and Firewall settings a notch and still no extra unecessary alerts. Yup, I know all that but how long is "too long" ...? Regards Eck
