You do this in Windows. Either with tbiview or with Mount. I've tested further and you can't do this from a WinPE although you can view the files in the image with tbiview.

Not sure what you mean by the task bar icon. My icon in the taskbar shows % progress.

If you right click a .tbi image file you get choices...

    "Open" starts TBIView
"Mount as Drive Letter" does the mount. As Z: drive in my computer.

actually works fine in winpe with that a2 program you sugested. you just have to use the ctrl-c then go to the a2 program screen and use ctrl v and it pastes them right where you want

one issue though is i cant get tbimount to work in winpe it says its not installed?? any thoughts? loving this so far though.. thanks

I tried right click copy/paste and it didn't work in the WinPE. I'll try your way next. But are you copying files from the tbiview app to a Windows folder? Or between Windows folders?

I guess it is not a "portable" app and does need installation. So it won't work in a WinPE.

    The old, old DOS method.

Under the new and improved, shinny Windows it is still the DOS which controls it.

There is a lot of stuff you don't need. I suggest ...

    IFW (compulsory)
    PHYLock
    TBIView

None at all. I download them separately from the download page. If you aren't using them you don't need to download.

The TeraByte Newsgroup announces new versions. New versions usually mean minor changes that someone has requested.

    zfactor,

Here is an interesting way to use your WinPE.

Create a WinPE on a USB flash drive. I used a 1 GB flash drive but the data only occupies about 200 MB. Using IFW, create a partition image of the flash drive.

With a standard USB external HD, create 300 MB of unallocated space anywhere on the HD. Start or end, it doesn't matter. Using IFW, restore the partition image to this unallocated space and you MUST remember to use the restore Option of Set Active. Now you have a bootable USB external HD. It can contain your .tbi images in the main partition.

Do a standard boot from the external HD (the same as booting a flash drive) and WinPE will load IFW. If you had entered a custom command line in startnet.cmd instead of using
    start imagew
then IFW will run an auto image creation or restore.

WinPE will load much faster than from a CD and faster than from a flash drive.

Nice trick. I remember ThinkPad's Rescue & Recovery does something similar automatically.

    Cheers.

Booting from USB flash drives can be confusing. With the TeraByte WinPE I used the Partition Ex (this might not be the most compatible choice) setting for 6 different flash drives. Only two booted in my Dell desktop. All six booted in an Asus netbook.

oh and to answer your question about getting the pw disc to work for whatever reason it was the burner i was using. tried it on the same machine but used a external burner to burn the image and it was fine.

Off subject, what ASUS you have?

The first one I bought was ASUS UL50Vt-A1 about 18 months ago, which was snatched up very soon by my daughter. Now, I have ASUS N61Jq-A1, but lately drooling over ASUS G73SW-3de.

    Kind regards.

    KOR,

It's a 1000HE netbook. Nearly 2 years old but still good. It is a great size for travel although a little small for serious work. But just for the challenge I have about ten OS installed.
