Beyond Australis adds some very interesting capabilities. Folks who use Classic Theme Restorer though are wanting the earlier UI with square tabs, etc, so I don't know that they would be interested in Beyond Australis.
I have noticed that I recently have an "Other Bookmarks"menu that I cannot delete. I have managed to hide it in the menu and popup Bookmarks using Classic Theme Restorer, but it is still showing in the Bookmarks Sidebar. Does anyone know how I can remove it? I don't even know what it is used for.
"Other Bookmarks" is a regular entry so you can not delete it - it may possible with stylish but it need to learn about css and stylish, so i wont bother you with details and cause not needed trouble. "dont touch it if it aint broken"
another thread http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=3016865 if it wont hide in sidebar i can write Aris a message to fix it. at first i thought "where are the unsorted bm?" and the answer http://www.ghacks.net/2016/05/17/firefox-bookmarks-upcoming-changes/ "unsorted bookmarks" became "other bookmarks" bookmarks set in the wild or on the fly. i noticed it last days the first time because i dont really use this folder.
@haakon Since we are no longer discussing Ghostery I thought this is as good a place as any to chat about Adguard. Well, that is not what I experienced. I tried adding Fanboy's Ultimate list at first but that never showed up in Adguard, so next I tried Fanboy's Complete Adblock list which also did not show up in Adguard. Then I was informed I had too many lists and my browser may be slowed. Well I solved that by removing Adguard and reinstalling ABP. With ABP I have 4 lists; Adblock Warning List Malware Domains Fanboy + Merged Ultimate List Pete Lowe's List I tried to accomplish the same with Adguard but couldn't get it to work the way I wanted. Perhaps I need to have another go, but ABP is so much easier to work with. Cheers.
Since upgrading to version 49, some of my Saved Logins are missing. It is especially noticeable on websites that I haven't visited for awhile. Has there been a Saved Logins format update recently?
Hadron, I had the same issue here in our forum, of all places, as soon as I updated to Fx49, and it's due to this: https://matthew.noorenberghe.com/blog/2016/08/filling-saved-http-logins-over-https-same-domain Bottom line: I had login info for both HTTP & HTTPS in Options > Security > Saved Logins for this forum. As soon as I deleted the HTTP info only, the Wilders HTTPS info appeared prior to login. I did the same for other sites where I had dual logins, choosing to keep the HTTPS info, and now everything is saved as it should be.
but password(s) should be visible in the pw-manager for both (http <> https)!? would be my first choice to check if login info has been stored https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/password-manager-remember-delete-change-and-import
Exactly what I stated above: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/k...e-and-import#w_viewing-and-deleting-passwords
Adjust This Setting Before Firefox Wears Down Your SSD Drive http://news.softpedia.com/news/adju...firefox-wears-off-your-ssd-drive-508665.shtml
Krusty13, I know what you mean. Can you let me know some numbers from your SSD. Total Host Writes and Total NAND Writes? I got mine from Crystal Disk Info. Or Diskovery.
Well, I'm not keen on installing a program I know nothing about, will likely never use, just to get those numbers for you. Perhaps someone else who uses either of those programs can help you out. Cheers.
Both of those apps are portable. No installation needed. A few of our SSDs had high NAND writes related to Write Amplification. Not good. But at least we now have a fix. Write Amplification can lead to much higher writing than Firefox. Everyone is invited to share their numbers. You can get them from the SSD SMART. No app needed.
Brian, I don't see the numbers you mention using (PortableApps.com) CrystalDiskInfo - how do I get to them?

Krusty13, It looks like your Total Host Writes is 196 GB but NAND writes aren't reported. We have Intel and SanDisk SSDs and both writes are reported. Total NAND Writes/Total Host Writes is the Write Amplification ratio. Ideally this should be less than 3. Mine was 24. I'm using this service with (200 msec) and the ratio is now just over 1. https://github.com/deadbabe/diskpoll Edit... I just had a look at my Speccy SMART. The Total Host Writes is quite different from the number in several other apps. (which agree)
Then I guess that's not good. Anyway, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. for round AU$100, they aren't that dear and if I get a few years out of them, fine. I'm not worried about losing data because I have multiple backups, so if a SSD dies, I buy a new one and clean install Windows... again.
