i was reading about this on some website like reddit when it first happened, so not sure how true it is, but the people there were saying that you could create a profile on AshleyMadison for free, but then when you wanted to set up a date you'd have to pay a lot of money. at that point some people wanted to cancel their account, but the site wouldn't let you unless you paid them something like $19... and apparently even if you paid, they didn't really remove you from their own database so even the people who paid to not be on AshleyMadison might be exposed too. it's unfortunate for the users of AshleyMadison, but cheating and moralizing aside I have little sympathy for the website itself because of their business model.
Predictions: There will be vigilantes who send vile messages to the email addresses listed. There will be phishing/malware sites springing up which claim to, or have the data available to search. There might be a site when it automatically and falsely says that every email address searched for is on the list. Innocent people will be hurt, sanctimonious morality will rule.
According to this advice, AM members in the banking industry might be subject to blackmail to get corporate secrets, and therefore their employers should be checking this out: http://www.theguardian.com/technolo...madison-adultery-hacking-technology-blackmail Presumably the government & military would have the same issue.
Yes it was, you don't expect this from these kind of people. I was a fan of the show BTW. It was broadcasted on TLC.
I'm not. People who have really rigid and unhealthy ideologies about human sexuality are usually the ones to have the most problems with it. Just look at all of the high profile TV preacher and priest scandals over the last several years.
All corporations have their moments of laugh even with the worst stories, be it attorneys, doctors, journalists. These moments are not relevant of their convictions, not always at least. If we have this moment of laugh then indeed the AshleyMadison scenario, if it were a theater play, could be funny because the implications are not related to what is commonly accepted as the worst, as despicable. After that, if we are asked what is outrageous in the principle when the performance vanishes, we may indeed agree on the fact that there is no valid reason to glorify the action of intruders, whatever the motivations and whatever the consequences.
i dunno. the "time" in some countries for cheating or gay sex is the death penalty, multiple whip lashes or otherwise very harse. for example, I think cheating for Saudi women can be punishable by death, and of course there were many people from each country and some of them used it for gay affairs, which is illegal in their country.
Yes it's no joke of course. But it's hard for me to feel any sympathy for the people that are affected by this hack. With that I mean, the people who signed up for an account. Well, it shows you can never judge a book by its cover. I feel bad for his lovely wife.
