I have been trying to get LibreOffice 3.5.1 off my laptop for many years. I tried everything - LOs uninstaller, REVO uninstaller, Geek uninstaller and Ccleaner - and none of them could get rid of it. I tried installing the latest version(s) over 3.5.1 and they all failed as they could not remove the left over files/registry entries of 3.5.1. I checked the LO forum - no solution (that worked) - though lots of suggestions. It was either use the portable version or Apache Office (re my choices). I used the portable version on the laptop and put AO on the desktop. Today I made the decision to take AO off the desktop and install LO. Also today I had success on the laptop removing 3.5.1.with an MS troubleshooting program: MicrosoftProgram_Install_and_Uninstall.meta.diagcab ===> You can download it from microsoft.support.com (it's free). You can run it if you are having problems installing a program too. I came across it by chance (looking for other stuff). Hope it helps somebody else as well.

I'm too confused with these LibO releases. That and the fact my last LibO update borked a bit sent me back to OpenOffice on Windows.
LibreOffice “Fresh” is a stable release of the more advanced version of the software, and is targeted to users focusing on features. LibreOffice “Fresh” is the stable version with the most recent features. Users interested in taking advantage of our most innovative features should download and use our fresh version. --------------- LibreOffice “Still” is a stable release of the more tested version of the software, and is targeted to users focusing on continuity. LibreOffice “Still” is the stable version that has undergone more testing (over a longer time). It is usually recommended for more conservative use. -------------------------
OK thanks. I don't know why they don't just call 'Fresh' a beta. People have been predicting the demise of OO for years. I first used it nearly 10 years ago. It still gets downloaded almost as much as LibO. It'll probably outlive us all. I use LibO on Ubuntu. Well, I used to until the spellchecker ceased functioning after an update. Thankfully I have AbiWord.
I've had some issues with the fresh versions (mostly frozen screens during settings changes.) But overall, I've been happy enough with LO that I no longer run MS Office at home. I cannot justify paying anything for an office suite when LO works as well as it does.
Because "Fresh" is not a beta, imo. I'm using the "Fresh" versions for years without problems. The beta versions [Development versions] are here= http://www.libreoffice.org/download/pre-releases/
You can do nothing wrong if you choose "Still" or "Fresh". They are considered to be stable. "Fresh" has more features, but if you don't need them, choose "Still" If you want to experiment, choose between a "Development version" or "Daily Builds" (Advanced Development version)
Maybe you can compare it to Firefox: Beta is Beta Fresh is normal release version Still is ESR release version

Thanks anon. So 5.2, the "Fresh" branch is now also the "Still" branch with the imminent announcement of 5.3 which will then become the Fresh branch?
At the moment 5.3.x is the development version. After the upcoming announcement of 5.3.0 it will be the new "Fresh" version. And 5.2.x is now the "Still" version. 5.2.x "Still" 5.3.x "Fresh" 5.4.x (?) "Development Version"
