I been decades now from 98 throughout minus only 7, and never in my life have i been so furiously frustrated with a procedure which any competent Soft Engineer in such a business would never let slip through cracks.

Kinda of a rant but on my sole (Windows 10) with the absolute state-of-the-art DELL NVMe M.2 SSD-Processor and easily TPE compatible as well. What started out as what was expected a smooth upgrade is now relegated me to fallback on a HASLEO Image Windows 10. TWICE! I gutted about everything possible driver wise etc,

Don't be fooled in the size of your ISO should you decide to install because it will tell you in my case it needed 10GB more space and went as far as suggested to connect a USB with adequate space to accommodate overflow TEMPS as it went through paces.

This is sickening and unacceptable. I thoroughly understand the months/years? of posts of the situation Microsoft peddles with 11, and i mean the complaints are wide ranging & deafening from previous users most who are turning to Linux and dumping Windows forever except NO-INTERNET local automation or entertainment purposes only.

This is the last straw, if this was in their plans to toast Windows 10 and prevent mass rollouts intelligently they are a HUGE FAIL IMO. Run by ROOKIES and no buying NO MORE WINDOWS. My Windows 8.1 is infinitely AS-IS, generations ahead of Microsoft incompetent clowns.

Have fun MicroIdiots, your Computer MFG Clients will IGNORE any Lap or PC because after all these years in the business on your end, you might just be a bygone era, a loss of NEW computers for that industry but better for your competitors. Wasted more time over the years fumbling with MS, but this one is the kick in the pants.

Umm, okay. Two points. 1. What in the hell are you babbling about? and b. Can I have the last few minutes of my life back? I mean, seriously...I read this rant multiple times and still have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I'm going to assume one of us is drunk.

Assume your merrily running Windows 10 all along since it's inception or a public channel 11 beta tester. Along comes 11 and MS releases it and bugs are fixed and they propel it into the mainstream - New Laps- New Desktops. Spicely marketed everywhere new computers are marketed new. Guaranteed to work as expected or return it for one that will.

It's been months Windows Updates declares your machine is eligible and DOWNLOAD NOW. I passed many times on that offer for the simple reason that many of us sharpen and customize it to personal aesthetics and suddenly your much time & efforts improving personal preferences are refined and working perfectly to your expectations.

So i decide to Image it in that perfect order and store it away in event of a hardware or other adverse issue requiring a return to the good image before things went awry. Simple system responsibility especially when it makes for your good creations or studies, or what have you. That's just good common sense.

That aside, everyone is all hype about Windows 11 these days. Okay, you have a crack at it yourself, NOT a NEW machine but one which happens to be supposedly compatible with 11 requirements. If something goes wrong you can recover (like i did 3 times now). I furiously searched the ERROR msg online to find a massive of the same issue on something which should have been routine or at the very least, a few nafu fixes readily within reach.

If i was a drinking man, this would be the perfect situation for that. In my Topic title above, the ERROR is spread all over the internet on a search and not only for my particular issue APPLY_IMAGE, but others also of a different nature.

If i knew what should be a simple upgrade from Windows 10 to 11 would waste time and effort i for one with Hyper Windows 8.1 wouldn't even have tried it to begin with.

Ok. So restore your image. Problem solved. Also, why are you upgrading? Start from scratch.

Seriously, try installing from scratch. If you're still getting that issue see if you sata cables are connected properly.

Well Hallelujah - After a very dismal 3 tries today @EASTER joined Windows 11. What lays ahead is a learning this thing. Wish me Luck.

Windows 11 is not that much different than 10. The explorer command bar, start menu and context menu are the biggest changes. But those can all be altered with startallback.

Will do. Thanks @n8chavez - It's amazing i could get it to finally install over my programs as it did. But boy this is a different twist for this user for sure.

However it's DONE. Not a single hiccup this time. It took a little time to work it's way in to this Dell but at least it's in now.

Hated to be left out of the loop but that's over now. Installed smooth as silk this go round.

Cause you finally got 11 on there, and I'd had to see you lose that progress.

I see. I'll light up HASLEO BACKUP SUITE right away and Image this new different system to me. Thanks for the suggestion on that.

Hmmmm you can still customize Windows Icons/system etc. I use a program called TYPES to enhance the boring dull Windows Systems Icons. Thought i might lose that option with 11 but it works as usual thankfully.

HASLEO backup completed successfully - screenshot was from mounting desktop after image was made. Thanks again @n8chavez - You are a good help. Appreciate that.

I see i have a Windows.old and that ~BT to command line delete. I have the procedure for those from previous experience.

There's no command for that. Just delete the Windows.old directory.

Done. In the Windows 11 camp now after nearly putting Linux into this Dell Inspirion. The new context menu still allows to reach programs on the original by going to the last setting on the menu list.

No gripes after finally getting it to install

USA still the best. But barely.
Looks good. But I think it would mess up my Dolby Digital Plus.

Possibly. i really wouldn't know. What have discovered is that it also works very well with Windows 8.1.

The Error in topic title was very real though and verifiable throughout google searches.

glad you got it sorted. i did not understood all text here, but i would never upgrade any windows to the next level, too much mixing. i run two machines with win11 from scratch, just installed the insider preview (win11 pro) in vbox to see whats about mandatory account and other issues - nothing, all fake news. i5 with tpm2 and efi.

its not windows 98, its not xp, and not windows 7, windows 8, and slightly different than windows 10. at least the origin optical difference to win7 is huge, nevertheless user can achieve similar as windows 7/8, startallback to mention (licensed). manyitems of the older system control leads to the new dialog, some not, but this is a matter of time, measured in years or decades, who knows.

i always assume a matter of user laziness when the machine is capable. less excuses for required software where vendor failed to renew for newer windows or licenses. such systems normally have no web, only intranet for administration.

good luck. btw i use acronis from stick, i refuse to install any backup software which may fail under windows for decades.
