As mentioned before, it's time to beef up macOS security, because hackers are able to infect them just as easy as they do on Windows. https://www.techradar.com/pro/this-new-mac-malware-campaign-targets-nuclear-experts
The Malwarebytes Mac Malware Removal Help subforum is not receiving reports of compromise such as those related above. Perhaps the macOS incremental updates, that have addressed CVEs, keeping apps up-to-date, coupled with XProtect/XProtect Remediator, sandboxing, and moving to later versions of macOS are helping to harden Macs in general. Most of what is reported are occasional reports of hijacking Google Chrome, perhaps due to congenital weakness and poorly maintained systems or failing to add common sense 3rd party protections. Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari seem more resilient if users will ignore the false claims that no additional system protections are warranted on as-installed Windows or macOS.
To clarify, if you read the report, you will see that this was a highly targeted attack on probably around 10 people. The point that I'm trying to make is that most people believe that macOS can't easily get infected, which is true for the most part, but when dealing with more advanced attacks, you need the right protection tools. I'm guessing that this NokNok info-stealing malware can probably bypass XProtect and Gatekeeper. Obviously, these type of attacks don't target normal home users, but this is the case on Windows too.
