Sandboxie Plus was working fine yesterday, but it stopped working properly after yesterday's Windows Update. Now, pages either load very slowly or not at all. What can I do to use Sandboxie Plus on Firefox again. I'm using the most current version of both programs, and Sandboxie Plus seems to work fine with other browsers.
Which Windows? 10? 11? 64 bit or 32 bit? Home, Pro, Enterprise...? I have no problem running Firefox on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit sandboxed (but I use Sandboxie Classic).
That's odd. I run SBIE Plus 1.15.7 and have no issues with firefox (though I don't run it as my main). Can you post your ini?
I use Windows 11 64 bit and Sandboxie Plus 1.15.7. I've never had any problem with Sandboxie Plus and Firefox until the last Windows update. Tell me how to post my ini, and I will. Since the update, I sometimes get a message telling me to stop the page, as it is slowing down Firefox. I'm attempting to load Wunderground weather. It is loading very very slowly and won't let me change the weather station.
I apologize for the late reply. My cat died yesterday, and was became otherwise occupied. To post your ini, open the sandboxie gui, click options at the top, then Edit Sandboxie.ini. That'll open the ini in a text editor, probably notepad. Then highlight everything, and paste it in a reply. Here's my config for Zen, the Firefox fork. I have no issues at all with it. Might be helpful to post your win 11 build version to help troubleshoot. Some have not got the preview CU KB5052093 dated Feb 25th (myself included) as it's a staged rollout. This is my build version below (run winver to obtain yours), with Sandboxie Plus 1.15.7 & FF x64 135.0.1. I'm having no problems with Firefox & Sandboxie on my machines FWIW, including those on 24H2 & still on 23H2.
Thanks. She was a really good kitty. But she was 19, so I was lucky to have had her as long as I did.
Sorry for the loss of your cat. I can relate, as I lost my dog last year at 10 years of age. Their loss can leave a significant void in our life. After the latest Firefox update and Windows update, I'm still having the same problem. Sandboxie Plus will not work with Firefox, though it works with other browsers. My Firefox version is 136.0.1 (64-bit). I have submitted an Issue Report with my Sandboxie.ini and logs. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what might be happening?
Do you have HmP.Alert installed? A sandboxed Firefox wont start using both Sandboxie and HmP.Alert. See: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...iscussion-thread.324841/page-682#post-3226776
I have a question from @n8chavez's post #5, the following line appears in his code: NetworkAccess=cmd.exe,Block;Protocol=Any Does this code deny a file within a box access to the console? I'm asking, because a virus could execute its malware in the console, so would this line of code increase security? thanks, Sabine Windows 11, SB 1.15.7
Well, just to clarify, this line blocks network access for cmd.exe. That's the goal anyway. I should add another lone doing the same for powershell, in the hopes of preventing any malware that first needs to connect out.
As far as I'm aware, that would be NetworkAccess=powershell.exe,Block;Protocol=Any Powershell's get-process is your friend.
Thank you @n8chavez , I've now added the two codes to SB's global settings: NetworkAccess=cmd.exe,Block;Protocol=Any NetworkAccess=powershell.exe,Block;Protocol=Any So far, no error messages in the red boxes of Firefox and Thunderbird in SB 1.15.7. If malware cant now use the consoles, that would be an additional security benefit.
Be aware, that only applies to network access. The malware might still be able to access the console, it just won't be able to connect out. Make sure only the application you allow can run in a box, right click on a box > Sandbox Options > Program Control > Start Restrictions > enable the third radial button from the top > then add program (ensuring only apps you trust and NEED are listed).
@n8chavez That's right, it's about network access. Thanks for the tip about the launch restriction; I had already enabled it. In my case, only Firefox and Thunderbird are launched in a red box. Would it be possible to generally prohibit access to the consoles in another code, or would that cause problems with both boxes? Thanks, Sabine Windows 11, SB 1.15.7
I'm a little confused. You want to block access to different command consoles in different boxes? Is that right? That's what your start restrictions are for. Only things listed there will run, so there's no need for a specific command console block entry.
Oh, sorry, I've always assumed that access to the consoles is possible inside a box. If that's generally not possible inside a red box (unless you allow it), then I don't have to enter an extra code. Thanks for the information.
For a couple of months and several versions of Sandboxie and Firefox. I started getting this error firerfox Error: Platform version '132.0.2' is not compatible with minVersion >= 135.0.1 maxVersion <= 135.0.1 Maybe try to reinstall Firefox? I've reinstalled firefox and Sandboxie several times. Works great on Chrome
Though I was hoping for a solution that didn't require uninstalling Firefox and then downloading and fresh installing Firefox again, that was what was necessary to fix the problem. I now can use Sandboxie Plus on Firefox. For those who choose to do this, make sure you save all your bookmarks and extensions before uninstalling Firefox.
