I just installed XP Pro w/SP3 on a new hard drive. WD 640g sata drive.
After getting a good part of the os set up I tried to dl all the updates needed.
I did this by clicking on the update link in All Programs.
    They could not be installed.
I tried going through MS Update. No good.
I had to go through MS Baseline Security Analyzer to install the updates. That worked but took a good bit of time.
For all of the above I had whatever security disabled. Made no difference.
Today I get informed via a pop up box that there are 2 updates available.
I disable TF, Avira Premium, Geswall Pro trial and Windows firewall.
    I can't install the updates!
And they don't show up on MSBSA.
But I'm able to install all my other crap.
I could use some help with this.
    Thanks.

    JRViejo,
I thought I posted this earlier in the form of an edit.
After I tried your first post I started looking for more info for that subject.
On the MS Help and Support pages I found a page entitled:

'Updates are not installed successfully from Windows Update, from Microsoft Update, or by using Automatic Updates after you perform a new Windows XP installation or you repair a Windows XP installation '.

The problem seems to occur frequently.
I fit nicely into the 2nd scenario and was able to correct the problem.
    Thanks for yuour help.
