Steve Gibson has just released SpinRite Version 6.1, which works with SSDs and can improve their performance. The upgrade is free for SpinRite 6 customers. If you are a registered SpinRite Version 6 customer, you should receive an email with upgrade instructions. The upgrade was very fast. I then created a SpinRite Recovery CD with the new version.

I last used it on an HDD many years ago. It recovered a significant of data and rendered the drive readable. My customer was very pleased, as was I.

    Have a great day.

    Regards,
    Phil

Be aware works with legacy boot only, i.e. if your system only supports UEFI you cannot use this.

Back in 2005, someone at this email address purchased SpinRite v6.0.

UNSUBSCRIBE: If you never wish to receive additional news of SpinRite improvements or “Beyond Recall”, our forthcoming secure drive wiping utility, or any new freeware,

You may upgrade your copy of SpinRite to v6.1 at no cost.

    SpinRite has been significantly improved

After 20 years, SpinRite 6.0 has been updated to 6.1, and as a licensed owner of 6.0, you are invited to upgrade your copy of SpinRite at no cost.

SpinRite v6.1 is (finally) blindingly fast and

    SpinRite restores SSD performance

The biggest surprise was discovering that even solid state mass storage could benefit from SpinRite's rewriting of its media. Due to “read disturb”, SSD and Flash storage slow down when they are only read and never written -- which affects most operating system files. People say that their SSD-based laptops no longer perform as well as they once did -- now we know why.

During the 3.5 years of work on v6.1, we discovered that SpinRite could restore SSD original factory performance.

There's MUCH more to say and share. You can find everything at grc.com.

    To upgrade to SpinRite 6.1:

    Your personal/private Transaction Code xxxxxxx.

Am i they only one for this upgrade? After 20 year.

No. Steve mentioned on the Security Now podcast that he is sending out emails going back many years to all users that purchased 6.0 advising of the free upgrade.
