Not seeing this at all, nothing out of the ordinary with YouTube. I use uBlock Origin and Enhancer for YouTube.
is no longer maintained and thus not available, get "improve youtube" instead. (for chrome and firefox available) fort the issues, dont know, yt is code changing 365 days a year, experience changes. if i like videos i just download them. the usual cat and mice race.
Yes, I've noticed that slowing down as "it takes a few seconds to start playing a video." It could last up to 8 seconds. And it, mostly, happens when I use Firefox. That drag is less noticeable with Brave.
I don't know what's causing it, but for several months now YouTube has been horrible for me on Chrome. I do use ad blockers but I use the same ad blockers in Edge and it zips right along. People here are saying they have no problems, so it's a mystery to me what it could be.

@ronjor This time, however, YouTube seems to have nothing to do with it, Ublock Origins developer Raymond Hill previously discovered based on Firefox's profiler tool. In it, performance issues on several sites could be seen. Hill states that the delays are especially noticeable on sites that are dynamically updated.
