Or company president had ESET 4.0 installed on his Windows XP machine but would get errors every 4 or 5 hours saying that ESET had crashed. So we decided to try your new version to see if:

    1. It would stop the issue
    2. If it did continue to crash give us an idea of why

It has since crashed giving the following error:

    "ESET Service
    Error signature
    szAppName: ekrn.exe szAppver: 5.0.94.0 szModName: mswsock.dll
    szModVer: 5.1.2600.5625 offset: 0001b2fa"

I also have the associated files if someone from support needs the *.mdmp and appcompat files. Any ideas on why this would happen?

Not sure if you uninstalled version 4 prior to installing version 5 but if not, that may be the issue.

I'd recommend running the full manual uninstaller tool in safe mode and then reinstall version 5 to see if there is any improvement in performance.

As always, I also need to ask what operating system is running on his machine and how much available space is left on the system, since lack of memory may account for the crashing. Check for ESET's system requirements to see if that may be causing the problem.

That's weird cause it was only the old v2 whose HTTP scanner worked at Winsock layer. If possible, upload the minidumps somewhere and pm me the download link. If you can reproduce the crash, enable generation of complete memory dumps under Tools -> Diagnostics, reproduce the crash, upload the dump and provide me with the download link.
