Did you guys know that Trillian is still alive? These type of chat apps were popular in the late 90's and early 00's LOL. It seems like its major selling point is that it's less complex than Slack.

I used it many years ago as a replacement for MSN Messenger, when it stopped working on my computer. I didn't know it was still around.

Yes, I was also surprised to see it still existed, good for them. Like I said, they seem to market Trillian as a way less complex messenging tool. I remember I used to use quite a few instant messengers. I tried MSN Messenger, ICQ, Miranda, IM2, Trillian and Pidgin. I remember that I found Trillian to be a bit too bloated.

I used to use YIM and MSN Messenger, then Miranda so I could also text with AIM users, then Pidgin for its encryption support. Trillian is the one I never got around to trying, but many of my friends loved it

Yes, this was a huge problem, that you could only chat with people who used the same instant messenger, but I believe they tried to change this at one point. According to rumors they might also come up with a new standard that will allow users from MS Teams to communicate with Slack and Zoom users for example.
