    Hi, all.

I am wondering about the security against invasion of privacy of a specific pet/baby monitor.

My friend recently purchased a "Clever Dog" device which is "a smart camera for home, which supports 3G and WiFi". She has started using it to monitor her pet when she's out. One can remotely connect to the device via e.g. a smartphone, and view video (incl. sound), and can also broadcast sound back to the device (played through its built-in speaker).

    Links: manufacturer , iTunes , play .

I'm not very sure exactly how it works. One of the reviewers (in the third link above) mentions a password.

I would like to check two things:
    (1) Relatively speaking, how easy/difficult would it be for someone else to gain unauthorised access to the video feed?
    (2) Are there any practical precautions that should be taken to minimise risk (beyond choosing a password stronger than "1234")?

I ask because I'm broadly aware of concerns over hacking of webcams, and suchlike. E.g. thread1 and thread2 .

    Thanks,
    DIV

P.S. Hope I've put this thread in the right forum.
