There are several mean pieces of trash that can pop up on you and can really make a mess of your system. Am I correct in my belief that so long as you don't click on it,it doesn't activate?

Either way it is best to close the browser; Alt + F4 will do it (without also clicking on any suspicious pop-ups).

Is it also safe to just go to the top right X to close the browser?

Alt F4 looks like the best way to go. Thank you.
