Ok, I misinterpretted the meaning of bare metal restore when I bought the $700 server edition. I expected it to move an existing image to a newer
server with an option for different hardware. A hook or something should be included to move to different hardware. Sysprep does not work on my systems Dell 1400 to Dell 2800 server. All servers need to be upgraded at
some point in time, and you really should include a way to do this. The restore option is very important, and am glad I have at least that, but for the cost of the Server edition, there really should be more.

    Hello afsnj,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Server Disk Backup Software.

Please note that we are going to release a new version of Acronis True Image Server for Windows which will support image restoration to the different hardware without using sysprep. The new version will be released in the nearest future.

Please be aware that our upgrade policy is to provide free upgrade to customers who purchased the software within 30 days prior to the release of the new version of the product, and also those who have purchased software maintenance or site license.

If you have any further questions please feel free to ask.

    Thank you.

That's great, but I purchased my server copy 6 months ago expecting to be able to do this. Now I'll have to buy it all over again?

    Hello afsnj,

First of all, please note that the ability to transfer the operating system to the computer with the hardware configuration that differs from that of the original machine will probably be implemented in the next version of Acronis True Image Server for Windows. In other words, it is not finally decided yet.

Please also note that if you are not eligible for the free upgrade to the new version of the corresponding product then you can always visit Acronis online store to purchase the upgrade.

You can find out whether you are eligible for the free upgrade by submitting a request for technical support containing the information about your purchase of Acronis software (where and when did you make a purchase, your order number, e-mail, etc.).

    Thank you.
