"they proudly proclaimed that consumers are adopting OS X Lion far faster than that of Windows 7"

I wonder what the adoption figures comparing OS X Mountain Lion to Win 8 will be? ;)

Show me a corporation that doesn't misuse statistics in order to make themselves or their product look better. Any comparison with Microsoft here is little more than the pot calling the kettle black.

I don't know what you're quoting or from where, but it has very little to do manipulating and exaggerating statistics, something all of them do quite well.

Usual spin doctors/quacks material, what matters is that product is being talked about. Everybody busy, reporting, agreeing or refuting, it is all good.

Lol, so they're accused of being good marketers? Maybe if Opera hires a couple of their marketing department people they could...nah :D Seriously, how can this not be seen as just another "Yay Microsoft!" thread? Here's a truth that will hurt, they all twist statistics around and try to make themselves look better. It's just business and good psychology. /end thread.

This thread is about Apple doing that. When you find Microsoft or any other company doing the same, please, start a thread about it. This is a relevant matter.

    Poor article.

Neowin are the ones lying by claiming Apple are lying without showing any evidence that the statistics presented are false.

All they do is put their own spin by mixing stats (which are a spin to start with ;)) and then claiming a lie.

    Cheers, Nick

Because statistics aren't lies, they're just statistics. They're easily bent.

Lol, I admit it's cute when you try to defend these things. There's nothing relevant at all about this entire article, it's nothing more than, as I said, a pro-MS article. If anyone bothers to read the thing, they see it. Several people besides myself have already dismissed it, and, as Nick just said, Neowin is doing the same thing they're accusing Apple of doing. You can defend it until you're blue in the face for all I care, but you can't escape the ugly truth that MS has done the same thing before. Again, it's business.

You didn't specify when, you specified posting an example of MS doing it...don't change the rules when you're not winning the game :D

    Be specific, vasa1. Thank you.

I don't think an example from 2004 is particularly relevant.

What article? The Neowin's one? It doesn't talk about Microsoft's practices at all.

No, it doesn't, but if you can't see that it implies that MS doesn't do the same thing, I honestly don't know what to tell you. Regardless, the article is BS, and does nothing more than accuse Apple of bending statistics in their favor..which all companies like this do. We can go back and forth on it all day long, and you can keep arguing in its defense, and we'll get nowhere.

Can you objectively tell why the article is "BS"? The article is simply telling and explaining what Apple is doing. Why are you calling BS the reporting of what Apple does?

If other companies are doing "the same" or aren't, that's a matter for another thread IMO.

Actually no, because I and the others have already pointed out why it is BS and it'll be my last post on the matter and last post at Wilders, because seriously, if you can continue making threads like these, knowing full well they're ridiculous troll attempts, and those who call it for what it is get their criticisms deleted, what's the point? Have fun.
