    Any Brave users around?

I've recently switched from Firefox to Brave as my main browser, but when using my usual Security Hardened with drop-rights sandbox some settings are lost, in particular search engines where only the default is showing.

I've tried disabling drop-rights and running as admin, but the only way I can get it to work properly is in an Application Compartment sandbox, not with any higher level of protection. What setting/s in SB do I have to change?

I have searched here, but it's pretty clear that I'm not that good at searching on this forum.

    Thanks in advance.

1.15.7 seems to have resolved my search engines problem. Thank you :thumb:

Still not quite right though it seems.

Bitwarden is my password manager, and every time I close and reopen the sandboxed Brave my Bitwarden vault locks, so to use it I have to enter the password every time; it ignores/does not see the settings in the unsandboxed version which work as intended. I have not set the sandbox to clear each time.

This is a major PITA TBH

If I set Bitwarden never to timeout when unsandboxed, it remains unlocked when sandboxed. This is obviously a very bad solution.

Isn't that to be expected? The whole point of SBIE is to get your settings the way you want then sandbox it, ensuring nothing can mess with them. If your bitwarden is unlocked prior to sandboxing it should remain unlocked. If I add a filterlist to an unsandboxed Firefox should I be suprised that the list still exists when I once again sandbox my browser. No.

Also, why prevent Bitwarden from auto-locking? That's kind of the point of using a password manager.

I don't want to prevent it from locking, but I do want it to honour my (outside sandbox) setting to stay open for x minutes and not require the password every time I close and open Brave. NB my sandbox is not set to auto-delete!

It doesn't work that way. If you set "Bitwarden never to timeout" it will always honor that setting, sandboxed or unsandboxed.

I don't want it never to timeout, but to timeout after a set period. It works outside of SBIE+, so why doesn't it work in it. Some sort of access rights requirement somewhere I assume, but I can't figure it out, hence I need David's help.

It seems it no longer honours my setting outside SBIE since I set up my new pc.

However other extension settings not being 'honoured'/picked up. It must be due to how and where Brave stores its settings - anyone know how I can find out what's going on?

Does anyone using either Bitwarden or Proton Pass with Chrome or a Chromium based browser have no problems with having to re-login each time the browser is closed?

@henryg1 Since you didn't provide any steps or settings to reproduce the issue, I did some tests on my own.
    1. I started Chrome/Brave browser outside sandbox.
    2. I logged in from Bitwarden extension.
    3. I set it to logout after 5 minutes.
    4. I closed the browser and reopened it immediately outside the sandbox.
    5. Bitwarden asked me to log in again.
From Bitwarden's help page: By default, if you close your browser window, your browser extension will require you to login or unlock with your master password regardless of your selected vault timeout action.

Thanks Busy. What a PITA! Stopped me wasting more time :thumb: I can't recall this as a problem with Firefox, but I could well be wrong. I'll just have to get into a habit of not closing the browser, which is alien to me. Needs must.

I still have other problems including extension settings set outside SB not being followed. I may try going back to Firefox now I have a new and much faster PC.
