Edge keeps crashing on my desktop when watching videos after 5 minutes.

I've tried disabling extensions, I just have ublock and IDM extensions.

Disabled a couple of flags, Experimental QUIC protocol and GPU rasterizing.

    I reinstalled it, reset it.

I don't have any problems with Brave or Chrome. I can watch videos for hours.

    I'm running Version 131.0.2903.51

Try run it in Safe mode to see how it goes. It sounds like a compatibility problem with something.

Have you tried to run with "--disable-webgl" parameter?
This makes me think that "Microsoft Edge WebView2" is at fault, it is known to cause issues, try to terminate it when running Edge.

I didn't see that in flags, just WebGL Draft Extensions, which is disabled.
Runs fine in SM, didn't crash.

    That's not available in flags.

To find out, it's crashing with and without playing videos.

Add it to the shortcut, it will force Edge to run without GPU support.

I did everything above. Disabled all flags, disabled all security, disabled graphics accelerating in settings, added that disable-webgl to the shortcut.

It only ran without crashing was in safemode.

I'll just wait for an update, see if that fixes it. ty everyone

Well as long you have reported it via feedback or the dump was uploaded, there is a chance it will get fixed.

How about efficiency mode or visual effects, they can bring down even a high-end PC to crawl in Windows?
    Code:
    edge://flags/#edge-visual-rejuv-mica

I just uploaded all the crashes to microsoft. It's not a big deal really, just don't like when something doesn't work correctly. Thanks again.

Your dump file downloaded and checked with WhoCrashed
Resplendence Software - WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer
    -----------
    Here is the results=

    Crash dump file: C:\Users\user\Downloads\5e41a9fd-aa43-4cc2-81a9-14a99ae3dac2.dmp (Minidump)
    Bugcheck code: 0x0(0x0, 0x0, 0x0, 0x0)
    Bugcheck name: CUSTOM_ERROR
Driver or module in which error occurred: Program.sys (msedge)
    File path: C:\Program
    Analysis:
    Google query: msedge CUSTOM_ERROR

    Conclusion
One crash dump has been found and analyzed. A third party driver has been identified to be causing system crashes on your computer. It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:

    program.sys

If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination with the errors that have been reported for these drivers. Include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions on the web by users who have been experiencing similar problems.

Read the suggestions displayed in the bugcheck analysis above.

Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.
The analysis process took 0:00:25 (h:mm:ss).

You can try the dev version just for testing purpose (right now the stable and the beta version are the same).

This is because your Edge User Data is corrupted and since the Dev version uses a separate User Data folder it made a new User Data folder and that's why it's OK now. If you also make a new User Data folder for Stable Edge, that's fine too and everything working too as should. Before making new one, must be deleted or at least renamed the old one.
    Much success.

ah, ok, thx. then i am out, i dont deal with such versions any more. although 1809 should be able to use current edge, its features got stuck on 1809.

nevertheless if a new profile works, additional to kaljukass.
user data is here %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data
profile data goes here %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Edge\User Data\Default

you can create a new profile with any additional browser build. or you rename "user data" to "user data.old"

and start edge from scratch. with any method you need to insert all important data again, passwords, bookmarks, extensions and more.

    following is only experimental:
"Bookmarks" is a file for bookmarks, same for "History" and "Favicons" (those files have no file type, but they are sqlite formatted)

edge is too blown with files and folders in comparison to firefox. but a full backup from the first folder i gave is recommended. hekasoft may help you out in the future. no backup means no important data.
    https://hekasoft.com/hekasoft-backup-restore/

    good luck

Weird. There should be one, at least named Profile 1.

Ok, that's the folder where your current edge profile resides. The other one (Default) is not there because most likely you deleted the former profile you created first.

"default" was ever the first profile for chromium based, "profile #" the second, third aso.
    see also #23

\user data\ means all settings around edge which is NOT user profile. and this is a lot as you can see.
