    Hi Tigzy:

Just an update to my previous comments in post # 1567 about UCheck ignoring Winget apps with longer Names.

As of 13-Nov-2024 winget and QuickInstaller are detecting a new v14.42.34433.0 update for my 32-bit and 64-bit Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributables (note the short unique IDs in the winget upgrade output) ....

    QuickInstaller Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributables v14_42_34433 Detected 13 Nov 2024.png

... while these updates are ignored by UCheck v5.7.1.0 and UCheck v5.8.0.0-BETA3.

Yes I know this is a problem, I still need to look at what others do, but it's not something really new in this BETA. It will then be fixed (if) in a next minor version.

    Hi Tigzy:

Good news. I ran a fresh scan with UCheck v5.8.0.0-BETA3 this evening after installing my Nov 2024 Patch Tuesday updates and it's now detecting the available updates for my Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributables. Scan and debug logs are attached.

I did a quick check and this doesn't appear to have changed the status of any of my other Installed or Portable apps to Unsupported.:thumb:

    Tigzy,

FYI - Please be advised that posts have been accumulating on the Adlice UCheck Forum without replies for months. Curson previously handled responding but mysteriously disappeared around March and no one appears to have picked up the task. Some of the posters are expressing their dissatisfaction with the lack of response/support.

Yes, Curson is no longer with us.
Since I don't have time to maintain the forum, we will close it.
The only way to get support or discuss issues (except this thread of course) will be the helpdesk: https://adlice.com/contact/
    Thanks,

    @Tigzy ,

Since I don't have time to maintain the forum, we will close it.

Disappointing, but then I have not been there for some time either. No one is at the helm.

    Have a great day.

    Regards,
    Phil

Yeah, not so many people posting there. Forums are dead generally speaking...
It's better to centralize everythying, also make discussion private (to avoid accidental data exposure) so that we (the core team) can focus on dev

UCheck v5.8.1.0 released on 25-Nov-2024, full installer and portable builds available at https://www.adlice.com/ucheck/.

    Version history at https://www.adlice.com/docs/ucheck/release-notes/changelog/.

Version 5.8.1.0 adds scanning of Microsoft Store (UWP) apps located in the hidden, protected C:\Program Files\WindowsApps folder plus a new filter in the Display dropdown on the Installed tab to hide/show these Microsoft Store apps.

*** IMPORTANT NOTE: If you want to exclude any or all of these Microsoft Store apps from your scans you must temporarily enable the option to show Hidden Items in File Explorer before you can create the file or folder exclusion in UCheck at History & Settings | Exclusions. Hi,
The new free portable version keeps on indicating updates on 2 Microsoft Store programs...

    001151.jpg

But the Microsoft Store itself finds nothing...

    Cheers.

    Hi Tigzy:

The release notes for the current UCheck v5.8.2.0 (rel. 27-Nov-2024) at https://www.adlice.com/docs/ucheck/release-notes/changelog/ state "Due to many FPs, Windows Apps are not checked for updates against Community base". Does that mean that going forward, if an app classified as "Community Only, Microsoft Store" is outdated then the Status will incorrectly state "Latest"?

I deleted my exclusion for the hidden, protected C:\Program Files\WindowsApps folder in my UCheck settings at History & Settings | Exclusions and ran a fresh scan in v5.8.2.0. All but one of my Microsoft Store apps is classified as "Community Only, Microsoft Store" but now all have a Status of "Latest", including my outdated MaxxAudioStore Pro and Microsoft 365 (Office) apps shown in the second image below.

UCheck v5_8_2_0 Installed Tab Outdated Community Microsoft Store Apps Status Latest 27 Nov 2024.png

Note that I have one Microsoft Store app named Dev Home that is classified as " Winget, Microsoft Store" that has a Status of Outdated and appears on the Updates tab.

    Hi Tigzy:

I spoke too soon. As of 03-Dec-2024 UCheck v5.8.2.0 is no longer detecting available updates for my Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributables, although QuickInstaller and a winget upgrade command still find them.

    Hi Tigzy:

Further to my 04-Dec-2024 post # 1586, UCheck v5.8.2.0 is once again correctly detecting available updates for my Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributables.

I don't know if you are doing live testing with your backend scripts and/or global exclusions, but detection of these Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributables has become very erratic since UCheck v5.8.2.0 was released on 27-Nov-2024, so I'm going to stop posting about this particular glitch unless you specifically ask for feedback.

    Hi Tigzy:

I only mentioned this glitch because UCheck correctly detected available updates for WhyNotWin11 Portable v2.6.0.0 (rel. 18-Jan-2024) and v2.6.1.0 (rel. 08-Jul-2024).

I filed a false positive report on 30-Jul-2024 via an email titled "UCheck v5.5.0.2 - Two False Positive Detections for Portable HWiNFO and WhyNotWin11" showing that UCheck v5.5.0.2 was incorrectly recommending an update to v2.6.1.1 (still in BETA at the time) and that v2.6.1.0 was the latest stable release. The image below was captured 30-Jul-2024 and included with my FP report.

UCheck v5_5_0_2 Erroneous Detections Portable HWiNFO WhyNotWin11 30 Jul 2024.png

Adlice customer support sent back an email on 31-Jul-2024 saying that "This is fixed", but now that WhyNotWin11 Portable v2.6.1.1 (rel. 10-Oct-2024) is officially out of BETA and considered the current stable release UCheck v5.8.2.0 is still recommending the previous v2.6.1.0. I'm just wondering if whatever backend manual fix Adlice applied on 31-Jul-2024 to block detection of the v2.6.1.1 BETA is still in place and preventing UCheck from detecting the current v2.6.1.1 STABLE. From my UCheck v5.8.2.0 scan today (scan and debug logs attached):
