Will Maxthon continue support for Windows 7? As Chromium, Chrome & others have recently dropped support for Windows 7. Edit: For now it works on W7. Couple questions. Are my browsing history & passwords safe with Maxthon? I mean Maxthon is Ad-Supported after all. Idk but it makes me uneasy it's based in the PRC.
Why wouldn't they be? Maxthon has been around for 21 years. If it was leaking data, I'm sure that would be have been discovered long ago. Aside from that, I really couldn't care less where software is developed. I've been using Chinese software many years and will continue to do so.
I've downloaded Maxthon again. It takes some time to go through all those settings. Some negatives: 1. No possibility to set WebRTC protection. 2. Does not have "Only HTTPS" settings. 3. The button "Secure DNS" does stay on - it switches back to Off. 4. uBlock Origin Lite is not(!) compatible with Maxthon() 5. I don't know how to remove that "Quick Note". What's more, you need to create an account and sign in(!!!) 6. It does not have any internal ad blocker. A very positive thing. I can use it with Sandboxie! To sum up. After I've added some of my extensions, it runs fast.
You can never be sure about this stuff, I wouldn't use it if you're uncomfortable with Chinese based software. But it is being used by millions of mostly Chinese users and Maxthon claims they don't track your behavior. If it's true, who knows? I see they have implemented a resource sniffer, did you check it out? And I suppose all Chrome extensions can be installed, right? Because their own extension store looks quite weird, I can't zoom the page.
No, as I haven't used it for some time. Yes you can install Chrome extensions from the Chrome Web Store.
OK cool thanks. I remember that back in 2006 they had already implemented a file sniffer, but it wasn't that advanced. I would like to see something like this in Vivaldi for easy downloading of YouTube, Instagram and TikTok videos.
