hi yes , but thunderbird ,eM client and Mailbird they don't need 2 step authenfication can't understand why outlook 2021 does it need ,just because when i try to add an account it does start to login /password for gmail , but it does report the brower is no updated
@mantra Have you try to first to open Edge and log to your gmail account, make sur 2 step authentification in enabled for this online account, in meantime try to register your gmail account in outlook 2021.
gmail is converting to oauth https://support.google.com/a/answer/9003945?hl=en only a matter of time when given email programs refuse to work on your side with gmail as oauth became mandatory. microsoft sent notifications mails that outlook/hotmail/etc will transit to oauth, no longer username/password. current state for all will be oauth 2.0
@mantra if you don't have set 2 step authentification, just follow what @Brummelchen told you "Oauth2 became mandatory" Enable 2 step verification is a advice as we are on a security forum.
2FA or MFA is optionable, but oauth will become madatory. i got that mail from microsoft because i use thunderbird NOT being a microsoft program like outlook. but they do not know that i am already on oauth - this means that thunderbird opens a browser window where you need to login on gmail (or outlook.com). thunderbird grabs credentials and move on. credentials are stored as cookies - so dont let your cookies killed with a stupid cleaner.
