    Hello Again,

    I've installed the latest Mint on my Dell Laptop, but I get some type of tearing in the taskbar, like white lines in the taskbar sometimes.

    I'm using the opensource gpu driver.

    Well, I don't know anything about the Linux environment but if there is a way to get to the NVIDIA Control Panel, usually turning off v-sync largely eliminates screen tearing in certain displays. Not sure if we're talking about the same phenomenon though.

    Edit: oh wait, I see you're using an open source driver. OK, never mind.

    There are various fixes for this listed in the Mint forum. Best to search there and decide which of the options given best suits your needs.

    Odd, tearing is quite rare for me with Ubuntu. Canonical usually have this problem sussed.

    Did you try the NVIDIA driver?
    Pretty easy to install from Mint.
    Settings Manager -> Driver manager

    Are we sure it is using the NVIDIA adapter as I also see an Intel integrated adapter in your list of specs. I know Windows highly prefers to use the Intel but I'm not sure for Linux.

    Something like
    Code:
    glxinfo|egrep "OpenGL vendor|OpenGL renderer"
    should show it
