The v10 is being prepared in deep secrecy, like a new body at Lamborghini, but there is still a leaked distro. I haven't tried it.
Probably not. Maybe the company wants to skip v9 to advertise v10 as a complete overhaul of the app to justify yearly subscriptions. Who knows...
I don't have any subscription and the product is on sale right now. do you think I should buy it before the new release?
If it's a good deal and/or you need it go for it. I'm not expecting them to release the new version before doing several months of testing.
I guess it is probably one of those mysterious decisions that some companies make to skip the number 9. This is why we don't have Windows 9, or iPhone 9 and maybe many others that I am not aware of. They must all know something about the number 9 that the rest of us don't!
Why Was There No iPhone 9 & Windows 9? https://www.indiatimes.com/worth/news/why-microsoft-and-apple-skip-number-nine-561800.html#:~:text=Apple also wanted to signify,in many countries and cultures.
The two reasons mentioned in the article have been disputed before. And I, like many others, have not been able to determine the actual reason behind this issue. The first reason given in the article that it is a business decision, of signifying a new beginning or break from the past, makes sense, but then why always the number 9? Why not any other number in the chain? The second reason that the number 9 is unlucky or means something bad in Asian languages like Chinese and Japanese, does not make sense as we have "Huawei Mate 9", a Chinese company naming their product with a 9, and Japanese digital cameras like "Sony A9" or "Panasonic S9 or G9". Even Samsung a Korean brand, naming their flagship "Samsung Galaxy S9". And if the number was really unlucky then Google would not have released "Android 9 - Pie". I personally think it is a psychological issue that when the version number reaches closer to 10, companies want to hit this magical number as quickly as possible, as 10 sound and feels a lot more cooler then 9.
noticed a warning after completion of my scheduled image - first time ever and this is the info: Incremental: Retain incremental backups for 14 Days The oldest incremental may be consolidated Incremental Backups: 12 found Consolidation: Merging '8C5B5C65FDEC5E4D-16-16.mrimg' into '8C5B5C65FDEC5E4D-15-15.mrimg' Warning:ReadFile failed - 23 Successfully recovered from failed consolidation should I be concerned?
Reflect will retry the consolidation operation after the next backup. If it succeeds and that error was some random IO error that occurred once, no problem. If you keep seeing the error, you might want to delete those Incrementals and all subsequent Incrementals to avoid building on a chain that contains a problem.
thanks Jphughan - the next incremental is due to run shortly and I will follow your advice edit: no further alert, just the usual success confirmation
FYI. Macrium Workstation 8 Image Guardian test by cruelsister: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAzXnaKbRB4
This will be where I part ways. I'll use 8 until it no longer works, then something else. I may need something that works beyond my ability to pay for it. I get why they are doing it, but it won't work for me.
Just refresh the site and it should work. On a side note, this link has already been posted by @jphughan above.
I stumbled across the following sentence in the FAQ section of Macrium X: Source: https://www.macrium.com/reflect-x/faq Now, this is interesting. Customers visiting the Macrium Support forum probably do not agree: Survey: Will you use Version 9 of Macrium Reflect when it comes out if it becomes lease only (now we know it should read Macrium X): YES: 7.63% - 10 votes NO: 68.7% - 90 votes DEPENDS on lease deal: 23.66% - 31 voters Source: https://forum.macrium.com/72172/Wil...ct-when-it-comes-out-if-it-becomes-lease-only According to that survey, the overwhelming majority of customers do NOT favour an annual plan.
There isn't anything justified in shelling money on any newer versions of this type of software (if the user only intends to make / restore images etc). My main software is Drive Snapshot 1.44 (October 2016) and there hasn't been one genuine reason to update it / shell out money on the latest version. I will never get my head around, why anyone would keep updating this type of software in the first place as there hasn't been anything massively changed to storage devices in years since UEFI / GPT, so what are the benefits if you only want to make / restore backups? Nothing especially renting such software.
right now I’m using Macrium and Hasleo in alternance. Hasleo has been perfect so far. So when Macrium stop working, I will just drop it.
