@henryg1 Try re-enabling shell integration after restarting your system.

Hello there! First time reporting a problem with sandboxie.

    version 1.14.6

On some websites with videos embedded from other websites. I can't always pause videos inside of brave.

Outside of the sandbox I can.

One of the websites where it happens is a place to watch anime for free kaido (dot) to

I have no idea what's causing it, but the problem of not being able to pause videos on those kinds of websites happens much more often when I use sandboxie's start (dot) exe to start brave, if I run brave sandboxed by using the "forced programs" feature it doesn't happen nearly as often.

I did see that sometimes I can't pause the videos even unsandboxed in brave, but I can always pause with the pause/play button on my logitech keyboard outside of containment so long as the brave window playing the video is selected.

I don't know. I've been playing around with it. And it only happens sometimes. I've made a new sandbox just for watching stuff on sites like those. because sometimes there's browser-based coin-miners on them and even though I have adguard for windows loaded with mutliple filters meant to block those, it never hurts to have an extra box to contain those just in case. Clearing it out seems to temporarily fix the issue. After moving on through a few more episodes, I'm unable to pause videos on websites like those...but only sometimes. Sometimes I can watch all day and I can always pause it

I have admin rights dropped in all sandboxes and under "advanced options" > "Privacy" I have all four checkmark options turned on. But this issue I've brought to your attention was a problem before I enabled those...I think there's something that happens on these kinds of websites to protect against bots or something that might be causing this. quite often, I'll have to refresh and allow cloudflare to check out my browser every couple of episodes....but I haven't seen anything like that on kaido (dot) to...I've seen that kind of bot protection on many other sites that operate in a similar way though.

I said before, it seems to happen a lot less often when I start brave into sandboxie using the "forced programs" rule for one particular box I have set up.

Could there be some kind of browser-based malware or something that gets dropped from sites like these?

Oh...there's another thing I wanted to ask.

Why doesn't the pause/play button on my keyboard work on videos running inside brave when brave is sandboxed?

I would check on the Brave forum for how to resolve this issue if it's happening unsandboxed.

Could be a certain filter that's causing this. Try the videos you're trying to play/pause without filters and see if that works.

I have a Logitech keyboard which uses Logitech software to enable extra features like pause/play. If you sandbox Brave, you could be cutting off access from Brave accessing the keyboard software needed for the pause/play to work properly. Sandboxing programs can also prevent additional helper apps that the program needs to run properly. In the Sandbox settings, you'll come across sections which will have a box that says 'Issue message.......'. If you enable/check the box, you'll get messages which may help in finding what these extra helper apps/programs are.

For example, under Program Control>Start Restrictions, I was able to see that I needed to add 'plugin-container.exe' for a feature to work properly in Firefox.

Sandboxing can get complicated. Under Resource Access, I punched a few holes through Sanboxie to allow certain things to be accessed and have control over what permissions are allowed.

Anyway, I'm not trying to make this over complicated, but the answer to your questions may involve a little detective work and trial and error.

What are the calling the app for that now?

And I fiddled with it a little more. The filters I have aren't causing any problems like that.

Like I said, clearing out the sandbox I made for doing that and invoking start (dot) exe to put brave in that one specific box fixes it...but only for awhile.

The Logitech software for keyboards and mice is here:

    https://www.logitech.com/en-us/software/options.html

If you scroll down the web page it'll show what options the software controls on keyboards. Not sure if you're using the software or need it but it gives you access to options which might help.

Like I said before, if it's happening unsandboxed, then it's probably an issue with Brave and I would post about it on the Brave forums. Using Sandboxie, everyone's settings are different which is why it's not always an easy process to figure out.

Did the issue you're having happen with prior earlier versions of Sandboxie?

I've got some "strange" message from Sandboxie 1.14.6 while trying to open Brave.

@zmechys Check that there are no exe or dll files associated with the Brave browser inside the sandbox. If there are, delete those files from outside the sandbox, and then try to run the browser.

    Thank you so much.
It really helped me to solve that issue.
