That's what's so weird about the stock market. Of course analysts are trying to come up with advice like buy, hold or sell ratings based on future revenue, profit, cashflow and stuff like that. But at the end of the day it all comes down to demand and supply of stocks.

So greed, fear, hype and popularity play a big role and stocks can easily be manipulated by the big players. It's crazy to think that stocks of major corporations like Ford and Cisco Systems barely move, while crap like Reddit, GameStop and Trump Media can easily climb a few dollars per day, based on nothing.

TikTok offered an extraordinary deal. The U.S. government took a pass.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/tech...9.DgdWa2wf7yaiVFuybiYvMOw8ajrXfWXkSg-vejF8S8Y

Paywall lifted - hope it holds.

The deal TikTok has with the Chinese government is an unknown. It may be very much like the one offered to the US!;)

I suppose it won't allow explicit content. I noticed that in the last 6 months or so, Instagram and YouTube also allow nude content, I won't lie, I follow many of these women, I mean why not. :p

Elon Musk’s X set to get more warnings from EU

Warnings will unlikely move Musk - fines also mean nothing to him.

Elon Musk calls for “criminal prosecution” of X ad boycott perpetrators

    https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy...nal-prosecution-of-x-ad-boycott-perpetrators/

Actually it is all about 'the placement of ads'. Not a boycott of all ads on X. Advertisers do not want their products surrounded by a flurry of racist rants. X is primarily a platform for this content and it is not moderated.

The loss of science on Twitter

    https://bylinetimes.com/2024/01/16/elon-musks-war-against-science-evidence-and-objective-truth/

FYI: There are many articles about what is happening on X right now, but most delve into Musk's personal political activities. These are not articles suited to this forum though many have a huge impact on X as a social media platform. The bottom line is that the platform is hemorrhaging users and money and is not attracting new users.

Reddit Will Soon Try Out AI Summaries (and Maybe Paywalls)

Paywall 'certain subreddits' could lead to yet another lockout by some volunteer moderators and users.

I will never understand how the richest man on the planet, also turns out to be one of the dumbest. Everyone knew that he was overpaying when he bought Twitter for $44 billion. He will probably never get a return on the investment.

He will for sure lose this battle because he breaks his own rules on Twitter.
