Does it make sense to run SysHardener and/or OSArmor alongside Kaspersky Plus/Premium as additional layers of security or should Kaspersky Plus/Premium be left alone?
Whether it's a good idea or not is debatable, but K+ doesn't complain about them on my machine, only Malwarebytes.
I know K+ doesn't complain about these NVT tools, but the questions remains whether or not it makes sense to add additional layers of security to K+.
I guess it depends who you ask. Kaspersky support told me to uninstall a heap of programs when I contacted them one day, including Mail Washer.
Maybe @novirusthanks has the best idea. For what it's worth, I also have HMP.A running on that machine.
Correct. Yeah, some will say it's overkill, but they don't seem to conflict on my machines (the other does not currently have K+ installed). I'm a security software enthusiast. Of course I would uninstall some, or all if I did start having issues.
SysHardeher, as you know, doesn't run in real-time, so I don't really count that as a conflicting program. I have to wonder how many Wilders' members, people in general, are still using K products because of X or Y these days.* *We can't mention those reasons here.
You're right. SH shouldn't be a conflicting program, which is the reason why I'm currently using it together with K Premium. However, I'm not so sure about OSA because of its real-time protection. Apart from that, K is a multi-layered security program that probably makes additional security layers redundant.
FWIW: "List of applications incompatible with Kaspersky for Windows" https://support.kaspersky.com/kaspersky-for-windows/compatibility/15849
I see HMP.A. It must be an old list because it doesn't mention Norton 360. NVT software are not on the list, neither is Malwarebytes 4.x and 5.x, but then again, MailWasher is not there either and they specifically told me to uninstall that, plus several others.
If you're asking whether you should renew your OSA license, I'd suggest, depending on your threat level (probably pretty low), that you could get away without it.
That's only because K has a similar feature built in, not because they will cause crashes etc. If for ex., K says there's no update for an app and SUMo does, then they'll probably have more tech support questions regarding that.
I have Kaspersky Standard with MBAM 5 Pro with lifetime license (no resident) and HitmanPro.A. Exclusion rules in each program and without problems except the advice in Kaspersky.
