Same here. Especially don't like the VPN crap showing when I already have one just a waste of space, and them pushing a sell.

MB5 Oh well still use it On-Demand if necessary with lifetime license and I don't care what it looks like and I'm sure it's just as effective!

I did see a Malwarebytes for Mac 5 announcement on this forum, but not for PC.

For PC it’s still version 4?

(I run the 5 beta, but would like to know whether it’s final now)

Yes, @XIII. I would rather not steal the thunder from the previous post of @Mops21. MB5 for Windows version 5.0.17.99–1.0.1169 has been officially released to General Availability (GA).

For those who wish to upgrade immediately, and possible CDN throttling is slowing things for your PC, you may force an update with the official links in the following announcement: Malwarebytes 5

In addition to the short form link above, a MB5_Offline installer is also available. There is no need to uninstall any previous version.

I could not see that post?! Turns out (s)he was in my Ignore list...

Once I cleared that, I could see the post. The following posts make a lot more sense now...

    All:

It is with great sadness I relay the passing of this forum's member, exile360.

Samuel was a former Malwarebytes Product Manager and later a Malwarebytes forum expert. At the time of his passing, Samuel was 43 years old.

    With great regrets.

I am another MBAM user with three lifetime licenses who does not like the look of MBAM 5, most particularly that annoying VPN advertisement on the main page. Users should have the option of turning that off. I already have Bitdefender VPN as part of my Bitdefender Premium Security license. I will never be buying the MB VPN, so get that annoyance out of my face, Malwarebytes! Please!

Being in Canada, it has not yet been forced on me by the usual MBAM Update Checks for my version 4.6.9. I am in absolutely NO RUSH to have to have MBAM 5 foisted upon me.

Just my two cents. Have a great day.

    Regards,
    Phil

    Hello @garioch7 / Phil

Your remarks about the MB5 GUI's unwanted VPN display have been repeated by more than a few. I basically agree, although I'm sure many understand that subscriptions must be sold to keep that app and MB5 feature available. Perhaps Malwarebytes' management will try a way to selectively display/hide the unwanted VPN option. I read where you have already made your expert opinion known on the MB forum. Well done sir.

Strictly personally, I would not reject the MB4 ⇾ MB5 internal improvements & upgrade as more than a few modules likely needed to be rewritten to keep up with today's malware advances. You may always fall back to MB4 if need be. I am using the Premium Plus edition and when the GUI is open, I don't notice the VPN pane until I want it turned on or off. YMMV.

I seriously believe most clients will physiologically “tune-out” the VPN panes in their minds as soon as they have glanced at it.

    Cheers

    @1PW ,

I have been a longtime user of Malwarebytes Premium (three lifetime licenses). In my capacity as a member of the Bleeping Computer Malware Removal team, I have very frequently used MBAM scans to finalize the disinfection of a computer.

I am still on Version 4.6.9. I have seen the new Version 5 GUI interface in many of the Forums I frequent.

The bottom line is that the VPN notice on the main GUI is an "advertisement." I already have Bitdefender VPN as part of my Bitdefender Premium Security package. Why should I be forced to look at an advertisement in the MBAM Premium software for which I have paid for a product that I don't want or need?

IMHO, Malwarebytes should respect its clients and give us the option to reclaim that space without constantly enduring that "nag."

Just my two cents. Have a great day.

    Regards,
    Phil

    Hello Phil:

I do not disagree. Let's see where this goes.

Thanks @1PW and I don't care about the MB5 UI as I use IVPN I just ignore what the UI says and I'm sure MBAM 5 is just as effective as MBAM 4 if not better! :D

Has anyone got a link to MB 4.x Offline Installer? The links I've tried all seem to want to download 5.x.

Does their Support Tool reinstall the same version you have, or does it install 5.x?

    Thanks.

Also, after reading this post, how are those of us with lifetime licenses going to activate v5 down the track when v4 is EOL and no longer available?

I still have two lifetime licenses given to me by Marcin years ago that I've never activated. What will become of them?
