I posted then deleted a post detailing a recurring issue I have in Firefox immediately following an update--in this case: to v. 120 (latest). With Strict Tracking protection enabled in Firefox's internal settings, I could not get my news streaming site to play. Disabling ext., running un-sandboxed, turning off hardware acceleration and flushing dns did nothing. Only turning the Tracking Protection to Standard (from Strict) allowed the media to play.

I can adapt around the loss but have no choice but to wait for Moz to provide another update (nothing new). Brave works fine. If someone would like to verify/confirm this issue, that would be fine.

I can confirm the issue with Firefox 120.0 snap on Kubuntu.
Disabling Enhanced Tracking Protection for the cbsnews page allows the media to play.
N.B. There is no need to turn Enhanced Tracking Protection to Standard in Firefox settings. You can disable it for cbsnews only via the Enhanced Tracking Protection dropdown menu that can be accessed with the 'shield' icon in the address bar.

Thanks a lot, Stupendous Man. It never occurred to me to do the shield thing in the address bar, I guess b/c I never had to. The thing is, I watch another cbs news service:
    https://www.cbsnews.com/live/
and it's the same deal--only it's a loading circle and then the media plays (if you have Autoplay enabled). If it's Strict or Custom, no dice though, just a little black screen. So maybe it's more convenient to leave it to Standard for now b/c two related sites are affected, I dunno. Anyway, thanks again for confirming. :thumb:

If you disable Enhanced Tracking Protection for one cbsnews page, it's disabled for the other as well. I think it's a per-domain setting.

OK, I put it back on Strict in settings and then disabled the shield in the address bar, and what can I say? Works perfectly--both sites load just fine! Also, just for info, the Tracking Protection shield becomes enabled again if you go to completely unrelated sites in a new tab. Also, I was incorrect in that the Custom setting also allows the content to play; it's just the Strict one.

If this issue affects others, I hope the word gets to them somehow. Thanks again for the valuable advice. :)

I haven't had to disable / change anything in FF 120 (or uBO) to get that live video to play here. Oddly, I didn't need to use a VPN either.
