Again thanks @Gandalf_The_Grey - I was lucky enough to been on MT Forums today and noticed it. Keep up the great work
Thanks I'm using it right now, it's still beta and less refined than VS, some blocks occur that are not blocked with VS. I reported them all to Dan by mail at support at voodooshield.com You can also use support at defenderui.com

Explanation from Dan about DefenderUI and DefenderUIPro. https://malwaretips.com/threads/defenderui.109495/page-29#post-1000078
Thank You @Gandalf_The_Grey - Read the article over at MT and the developer really is committed to making it improve with ever release along with bug fixes that occasionally crop up. Danb is so cool. And so are you
Thanks @EASTER I worked with Dan on the Dutch translation and reported blocks that occurred with DefenderUI Pro (and VoodooShield). He is a very nice guy and a committed and passionate developer.
DefenderUI Pro 108 is doing a reasonable job on my Windows 10 and is an interesting addition for WD/MD or whatever MS calls it now.
I think I have discovered a bug in DefenderUI. I noticed that when Win Defender automatically re-enables real time protection, then the DUI trayicon doesn't reflect this until you open the GUI by double clicking on the trayicon. So the icon stays red while it should become blue. Can anyone verify and report this to Dan? Also, in order to use DUI you need to disable Tamper Protection, so shouldn't DUI be able to keep WD's realtime protection disabled?
I would assume that when you open the tray icon that DefenderUI checks Defender's status. This certainly doesn't go the other way where Defender would send its status to DefenderUI. Therefore this could only be done by having DefenderUI constantly pinging Defender for its status. That would probably use way more resources than it would be worth. Maybe. I guess that would be more for Dan to say but it seems likely.
I guess so, but you would think that an advanced tool like DUI would be able to sync its trayicon with the actual status of Win Def. And you would also think that it would be able to block WD from automatically enabling realtime protection since DUI should be in control.
It could but again, it would have to ask Defender. Repeatedly. Every second. Defender is not programmed to send its status to DefenderUI. Therefore DefenderUI would have to request the status. To update in real time, it would have to do so constantly. Not something that I would want it to do with my PCs resources. Maybe if this functionality were to be added it could be optional for someone that would rather burn the resources checking the status and leave it off for those that wouldn't. The things you are asking for would probably require some cooperation from Microsoft, and they probably aren't willing to give it.
I don't get it, isn't DUI already capable of monitoring WD's status? I mean isn't that what the DefenderGuard feature is for? It should automatically enable WD's realtime and cloud protection and it should even enable Windows Firewall if this gets turned off. So it should be no problem for DUI to change its trayicon to the correct WD status. Actually I just saw that DUI has an ''auto reactivation'' feature that will enable WD's protection in at least 5 minutes, I will now test it.
Well, I assume it is capable of checking. I also assume it doesn't check again until something triggers it to do so. Though I am developer I am not the developer of this program so I will defer to him as to if or when such functionality would be implemented. I had had to come up with an analogy, let's say I wanted to know if you were home. I come to your front door and ring the doorbell. Assuming you answer I assume you are home. If I want to know at all times if you are home I relocate my address to your front porch and ring your doorbell once a second to see if you are home. Dan may know something I don't but I would have to assume similar measures would have to be taken. I'd rather the status lag behind than have a program constantly pinging the status and keep Defender busy answering "are you on, are you on, are you on?".
I have tested it. When I enable DefenderGuard, it will successfully re-enable WD's protection after 5 minutes and it will also correctly update DefenderUI's trayicon. But apparently, if WD re-enables the realtime protection itself, then DUI can't spot this and doesn't update its trayicon, a bit of a bummer since I like to hide WD's trayicon. It would be nice if this could be fixed in DUI, but I get your point.
Not correct, the only thing you can't configure with tamper protection on are the threat default actions. Furthermore you need tamper protection off If you want to disable Real-time Protection, Behavior Monitoring, Scan all downloaded files and attachments, Script scanning (same with ConfigureDefender). But why would you want to do that is another question... then just use another AV. There was a discussion a while back about this on MT, starting from here: DefenderUI | Page 30 | MalwareTips Forums
