Cool, thanks for the notice, Minimalist. Downloaded KB4592438 and it installed successfully in about a minute. Windows Update cleanup was only 91 MB this time. I'll wait for the changelog to post but I'm curious what got installed this time.

Winver for Insiders Beta channel: 19042 685 A very stable build for me right now, have to say.

I don't think it's necessary. Just don't use chkdsk /f command to check your partitions. I hope that scheduled tasks set by MS are not affected by this bug.

As luck would have it, I ran a chkdsk /f 2 days after installing KB4592438 with an AHCI SATA3 Silicon Power SSD on 20H2 and experienced no problems.

Good to hear that bug doesn't affect everyone. :thumb: Maybe it didn't find any errors so it didn't attempt to fix anything.
When I run chkdsk I usually do it without switches. It usually also doesn't find any errors.

After the release of two Windows 10 feature updates and numerous cumulative updates, Microsoft has still not fixed a bug causing Windows Defrag to TRIM non-SSD drives.
    ....
    ....
Even though this bug has been reported extensively, Microsoft has also not officially acknowledged in the Windows 10 health dashboard that this bug exists.

They say a fix is rolling out for the chkdsk bug but they don't say exactly how or when. I would assume it is through Windows Update. I assume folks will know when they are updated?

Yes, we'll have to wait, it seems. Seems to be a number of Windows "bugs" affecting the disks. This is the last thing you want affected by some bug Microsoft doesn't officially acknowledge and doesn't give a timeline for fixing. :cautious:

I unknowingly ran chkdsk /r (not /f) the other day with this KB installed; it went thru just fine and no boot issues whatsoever. Running a Samsung 980 Pro 500 GB with the Microsoft controller and driver.

Yep, another day has passed and I see articles about this on just about every tech site. No mention of how this update is going out or how to determine if you have it or not.
