Having the same problem 'Admin required' with Chrome, now also Edge and Vivaldi, as I had previously:

Also after a clean install - and running v6.0 install as admin (though it is an admin account anyway).

We have not been able to reproduce this locally with 6.0, however that particular error code may be associated with permissions issues / registry issues (or corruption) on a system.

Are any accounts on the computer joined to a domain, by any chance? Or is there *anything* that might be interfering with access to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies or Group Policy configuration?

 

Neither that I know of @javacool, but I am not expecting a solution - seeing I not a paying subscriber, and I seem to be the only one experiencing this!

Firefox is my main browser anyway.

Having the same problem 'Admin required' with Brave(Chrome), but not very concerned in that Brave is still receiving SpywareBlaster protection.

 

I've upgraded to 6.0 over-the-top on two 7x64 machines. As is always the case with Javacool's software, everything worked seamlessly. Thank you for your ongoing expertise with SpywareBlaster!

 

Thank you @javacool, upgraded with no issues on my Win 10 64 bit home edition using Chrome 64 bit.

 

It's been ages since I used SpywareBlaster maybe since XP or when I first got W7. Correct me if I'm wrong but the main part of it's function is replacing your Hosts file with SpywareBlaster's Host file.

 

No, SpywareBlaster doesn't touch the host file, except if you create a backup of it.

It populates the blocked cookies list in supported browser and restricted sites in IE.

I can't seem to see SpywareBlaster populating the blocked cookies list in Firefox 79. SB shows that Firefox is protected. Am I missing something?

Please try disabling all protection in SpywareBlaster, and then re-enable all protection.

 

So for Chrome and MS Edge Chromium it populates blocked cookies and blocked javascripts in the browsers? is it also doing other things other than those? does it block malware sites?

 

I've seen mention [elsewhere] that Edge makes use of SpywareBlaster's Restricted Sites list... but my understanding is that the Restricted Sites list applies only to Internet Explorer [and NOT to EDGE]. Could you please confirm which view is correct?

I realize that EDGE (Chromium) has its own list of protections in SpywareBlaster, one of which blocks Cookies, the second of which blocks (Java)Scripts... and the list of cookies/scripts being block can be confirmed in EDGE by going to
Settings / Site Permissions / Cookies and sites data > Block ; and
Settings / Site Permissions / JavaScript > Block .
That's not my question. SpywareBlaster has a separate list called Restricted Sites. I've read (elsewhere) that the Restricted sites --- which I realize applies to Internet Explorer --- also applies to EDGE. I don't believe that to be the case, and that's what I'm trying to find out here.
