Well obviously they did keep logs ;)

But seriously, these are a bunch of no-name VPN services. And it's not surprising that their claims about logs were lies.

Members here should be aware that several of us "privacy junkies" have a running thread with the 5 or so providers you can bank on. These have all been tested informally by several here. You can pretty much depend upon those providers. I don't see any reason to use "no names" or anything like them. Its not expensive to subscribe to a decent provider.

Just looking at their names makes me run as fast as I can in the opposite direction :)

yeah, but what baffles me is the number of logs that have been exposed. millions of logs? so, these "no-name" vpn service providers have hundreds of thousands of subscribers? o_O

When @trott3r asked you "Can you tell me its name" I think it was the URL they were asking for.
I think quite a few readers might be interested in the premiere VPN thread.

So, @Palancar, I'm guessing you don't wish to reveal the URL of this super secret society?
If any of the "privacy junkies" are reading this post perhaps they may like to give us an idea where this elusive thread is.

I don't remember which thread @Palancar is talking about. There have been a few, over the years.

Maybe Palancar just hasn't visited the forum yet since his post. Also, this is a public forum so no super secret society spy threads..
I've seen it in the past but don't remember enough of it to find it, without spending more time than I'd like to.

Sorry guys life is blocking me from getting here at times. I am not in a place to do a forum scan. Mirimir's summary is correct however! Funny, I am involved with "secret onions" but not here, LOL!

ps - I have used all the top three shown above, and I consider them posted alphabetically for "social" reasons.

anyone with feedback re ExpressVpn primarily with respect to ease of use, reliability and speed? Obviously it should work as VPN but I don't need to worry about state owned services

ExpressVPN works well enough, and I'm not aware that they've given up users. But I've found their promotional practices distasteful, and overall wouldn't recommend them. However, a couple years ago, I did give away a few ExpressVPN accounts that I'd acquired while testing some affiliate links. So I don't despise them as I do HMA.

    express vpn
    ease of use: 9/10
    reliability: 9/10
speed: 10/10 (top speeds in the industry)

if you're stateside and your primary concern is privacy, you should go with either insorg or ivpn or mullvad.
if torrenting, speed and streaming are your priority, then go with express.

    Hi @imdb

I'm rarely on Wilders due to other commitments but I'm on here today because I'm considering moving away from IVPN. I get a lot of disconnects using their service of recent. And, I'm unhappy with their customer service. Just recently, they made a couple of changes that prevented me from using IVPN on any of my devices (Windows 10/Android) for several hours. It caused me undue panic. I hadn't been advised by email that IVPN were making these changes. I contacted them and was told that I didn't qualify for email notification and that I should have looked on reddit instead! I don't expect this for £100/year payment.

I was wondering about switching back to ProtonVPN. Customer Support is high up on my priority list. I don't need torrenting or streaming. But, I do need Windows 10 and Android applications. Any suggestions would be most welcome.

    Thanks in advance.

This was about their CA update, I'm sure. But I wonder why you didn't get the email notification. I got one, and I don't even pay them, given that I have a lifetime account from many years ago. What exactly did they say?

    Hi @imdb

Many thanks for the reply. I did use expressvpn many years ago and customer support was good. Do you think they are better all-round than VPN providers such as IVPN, Proton, Mullvad, etc? Do expressvpn keep any logs? Aren't they on the British Virgin Islands and, if so, are they under UK jurisdiction?

hi j, i can't say that they're better "all-round" than insorg, ivpn, mullvad or proton. i mean, it might be better in some departments. and not in others. but it's definitely in the same league. they don't keep any logs as all their servers run on ram-disk . as for the jurisdiction, i recommend you read this official blog post by expressvpn.
