It's a legitimate antivirus from India, that uses Bitdefender signatures. You can buy a license from Amazon India for just a few dollars, which is where I purchased my license from. It's not a product that I recommend. It's just one of many antiviruses I have on my test system. Although as I have noted, it's ridiculously cheap, you can get much better protection for free. It doesn't have any behaviour blocker, which is a feature that is a must these days. They also publish Max Secure Spyware Detector, which has serious issues with false positives. I helped them remove some false positives around 13 years ago. It's worth nothing that fake antiviruses are very rare these days. What is quite common, is for smaller developers to create sub standard security software, which uses either Avira or Bitdefender signatures. In particular, there a quite a few antiviruses from untrustworthy developers which use Avira signatures.
Roger, not exactly the same thing I know, but it wasn't that long ago I landed on a page that had a fake AV the looked like Microsoft Security Essentials that 'appeared' to scan and show a bunch of bogus detections.
Was it just an ad which simulated running a scan to make it appear your system was infected, or was it something you downloaded?
Yes, you will see ads which claim your system is infected. But, it's quite rare to see an actual rouge antivirus, that uses intentional false positives to identify clean files as being malicious, while not detecting actual malware.
