I wish I could buy such a DVR, in Holland they are migrating to stupid cloud based DVR's. However, I do think Tivo should have offered 1TB SSD's. And BTW, for the people who live in the US, is it possible to use the Tivo Edge with all cable TV providers?
Having real DVRs for cable and satellite for almost 20 years, I cut-the-cord in June and got a Roku Ultra. In that so far relatively short period of time, I have found the 500-hour (that I'll never fully use) cloud DVR service I have with fuboTV to be more than satisfactory. Reliable beyond my initial expectations AND I no longer suffer the merciless two or three tuner restrictions, now having not even to think about scheduling multiple live streams where one or two can be five to seven hour MotoGP and World Superbike events on beIN overlapping each other or with others on AMC or FX, etc. Good question. But there are ALOT of providers, some covering large densely populated chunks of the continent, and many, many locals covering smaller communities and rural regions. Impossible to provide an inclusive answer. But Tivo is a major player and it would seem OK to suggest all providers would want to support their gear. Unless things have changed, Dish Satellite does. Tivo's web site is probably the place to find out for sure.
I just wonder if Tivo DVR's are supported by the biggest ISP's. The reason why is because in Holland most HD TV channels are scrambled, so I can't record them with just any DVR. I have to use the DVR provided by the ISP, this is stupid. But I did see that Tivo supports CableCARD, the question is if ISP's do the same, otherwise you will only be able to record "free to air" TV channels.
