We all always have our eye out for something new like this especially if it's strong enough to solidly keep containment and safely dump out the chaos yard after a run. Until more positive results ring in by multiple member endorsements from their own experiences I suppose it's far from a Comodo FW + Sandboxie? Appreciate the snap comments from brief runs with it so far though. Everything new (security software too) as everyone already is well aware needs rigorous shaking over a period of time and some continuous modifications to reach acceptable levels. Anyone else tried it and run some dirt through this app yet have more to share?
R- Positive. I re-ran the test a few times to ensure I wasn't mistaken. And the results were fairly self-evident as the changes existed after a reboot. So as there is no need to fish in waters that may be troubled, if you want a sandbox where the Users must determine what will be contained, use Sandboxie. If one wants a more optimal virtualization solution (auto-sandboxing), use CF. Both have withstood the the test of time.
OK, sounds like Shade is a pretty buggy sandbox, at the moment. I also get the feeling they are not really interested in home users.
Hello, I am looking for a sandbox to run some programs in and I've had more compatibility with Cybergenic Shade. I wonder if it is as safe as Sandboxie. As far as I know Sandboxie had been around for way longer and has way more features which makes me feel less safe with Cybergenic Shade. Furthermore, it makes me feel unsafe that Shade asks me for my name and email in order to "activate" it. What do you guys think?
Wise words again CS as a few months ago I got an infection out of the blue when using Shade. Wallpaper changed on the desktop with icons disappearing etc but I still managed a scan with HMP which picked up Shade as a nastie. Surely a FP? When I restarted in safe mode I immediately uninstalled Shade and ran a screed of scanners to find the culprit but low and behold the system was clean as a whistle. It was all very exciting at the time but from then on it`s strictly tried and tested with some kinda real time AV. Regards Eck
Even Comodo sandbox (at default settings) will allow superficial changes such as wallpaper. AFAIK this is because of "desktop hooks" which are necessary for the proper functioning of many programs. I agree that this is not maximum protection, but I would argue that it is an optimal balance between protection and functionality.
It appeared to be the program itself that was infected not something I had downloaded/installed through it. I was just using Voodoo Shield and so let it install without any further checks. But you are right Comodo has many layers to arouse suspicions that all is not well. Regards Eck

I tried Shade about 2 years ago as a comparison trial but was so used to Sandboxie already, that I felt Shade was too limited and not nearly as flexible. At least now I know Comodo Firewall is another hopefully viable alternative and there are plenty of tutorials around. Nobody in his/her right mind would believe the Sandboxie server issue took three months to "fix" but without more info from the horse's mouth, speculation is totally useless. It still bugs me a little to this day, though.

Used it less than 24 hours (Cybergenic SHADE Sandbox Home Edition v1.7 with given activation code).No extensions (FFox / Chromium) + no themes in sandboxed browsers.Horror of modern day browsing without ad-blocking extensions,and with a bright theme burning my eyes through the night.No user settings at all.Activation code valid just for 14 days. It's not for me , so I'm back on (problematic) SBIE free (but my FreeDownload Manager will work again). On the plus side : took them less than a minute to send me an activation code ,Tixati is working just fine,and user is allowed to scan a file prior to recovering it from virtual folder.
