Today's electric cars may still have many downsides, but they are getting better and better. Therefore, I still think electric cars are the future (but probably not in the 2020s).
I have my doubts. I have no intention of buying one. EVs Gobble Up Rare Earth Minerals as Miners Struggle to Keep Up (cheddar.com)
Agree with you. But it’s not only the minerals, there is also the production of electricity. Here in my place in Canada, they say by 2035 we will probably missing electricity…
I saw post on Nikkei Facebook page comparing western EVs brands like Tesla to Xiaomi. Xiaomi is the clear winner in value to price ratio for now. And if I were rich enough to not look at value to price ratio, I would probably trust more Mercedes with quality
Customers must be able to AFFORD a car. It's NOT only TESLA who has problems selling cars. Cars with Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) also have seen their sales go down by some 10%. Electric cars do have a number of downsides compared to ICE cars.
So Tesla intends to cut costs by laying off workers. Ironic! The Tesla Board of directors voted to award Musk a compensation package that is potentially worth more than $55 billion this year. It was struck down by a judge as excessive, but Tesla intends to ask the shareholders to reinstate the pay package.
I think it's the future, but we should take another look at hydrogen based cars. Also, it will solve some of the problems with the climate, because of less carbon polution, but the fine dust problem will become worse. So this stuff needs to be solved. Solid state batteries and hydrogen might play a role in this. https://www.theguardian.com/business/2024/feb/26/electric-cars-air-pollution-problem-brakes-tyres https://www.toyota.co.uk/hydrogen
Yes, this is ridiculous, no person should receive such a hefty paycheck, Musk should be ashamed of himself. I think it's more about retaining his title as richest man in the world, it's about his ego.
Agreed. The battery thing causes more problems than it solves. Most of that being the disposal problem.
