    Platters are very hard to drill through with hand drills.

    I guess the juxtaposition of hammer and computer has often occurred to us too....

    PS - you need some heavy duty drills to get through modern failed HDD, definitely not hand drills!.

    Well, thermite is easy to make. Rust and aluminum filings. But you need high temperature to start the reaction. Magnesium ribbon is typical. And it's very dangerous. As I've said before, a good oak fire in a steel can will destroy everything except the steel components.
